Day 11 Morning Update

Last night went really well. They did a 'breathing' test for him around 4 am. This is where they see how well he breaths on his own...he did this for 1 hour. :) This is probably the first of many tests like this to see how he does. He was awake more last night and was able to follow the nurses finger with his eyes. They also asked him a series of yes and no questions that he was able to shake his head to. One question they asked him was if he was a pilot or not. He looked at them like they were a little crazy. Then they asked him if he painted cars and he nodded his head. Way to go!

He was having a CT scan this morning so I'll post results of that later today.

Nurse Jen said that there will probably be many days where I won't have anything to post...pretty boring and low key days. That's fine by all of us. Beats the alternative of posting not so positive things.

  1. Thank you so much Betsy for keeping this blog. Caroline and I look at it constantly. We are having a hard time being here away from the family and watching his progress. But have each other for consoling. The other greatest consulation that I have is being here practically across the street from the temple. Being able to be there at almost a moments notice. Being there when Dinae has called and said you need to get there. I have learned that the Lord is totally aware of Scott's situation. That He is blessing him during this time. I know the Lord is aware of each and everyone of us in Scott's family and knows what we are going through and is there beside us also. These blessings have been of great comfort and I hope each of you have been able to feel that also.

A side note to Scott and his painting cars. We were driving down the road last night and a pink car was beside us. I said, "Wonder what Scott would think about painting that thing?" Caroline said, "Pepto-Bismal pink!" Daniel put in, Yea, he would charge double the amount."
    Love ya, Carlene:)

  3. Wow! How amazing that Scott was able to breathe on this own for an hour. Way to go Scott! We love you all and can't thank Betsy enough for this blog. It's wonderful to be able to keep up on how things are going without having to bother everyone by calling. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
